Welcome to Pullman!

The view from our apartment.  We usually can see bunnies, quail, robins, and
magpies from our back porch.  We even had a little green frog as a visitor last week!

I'm excited for the chance to use this blog to stay in touch with family and friends while we have our Pullman adventure!  We are further away from some of you and closer now to others, but I hope we enjoy this temporary change in geography as Taylor works on finishing his DVM degree.  Washington is definitely different than Utah. We've had more rain in the past three weeks here than I remember in the past year in Utah.  We don't have mountain views, but the rolling wheat fields are gorgeous.  I miss my favorite grocery stores, but Wal-Mart is the same wherever you go which is comforting.  We're still working on getting the apartment settled. Once I have things more in their place (and cleaner) I'll post some pictures of our new spacious living quarters.  Three rooms and two bathrooms sure is luxury living!

Family Updates:
Taylor: While still finding time to complain about how short summer is and how quickly this next year of vet school will begin, Taylor has been finding ways to enjoy spending his time.  We've definitely been watching a lot of movies and he has loved having the time to play on his Xbox.  At least, I think he enjoys it. Sometimes with all the yelling and frustration at the games it can be hard to tell....He also found a jogging trail he enjoys using every morning.  He jogs down the road about two miles to the grizzly bear cages that house the bears used for campus research.  Taylor has also been really good at figuring out all the things we have to navigate as a new student family in the area.

Elise: I'm finally feeling a bit more settled in our new home.  I have almost all the rooms organized (emptied another box just last night!) and am starting to have a bit of routine to my days.  I still get panicky at times about not teaching this upcoming school year.  I was close to applying for a part time science position at the local high school when Declan started to cry.  He did a good job reminding me that my work this year needs to be at home!  I'm hoping to start a fitness routine using Taylor's Xbox live account.  There are lots of workout videos with challenges and it keeps track of my achievements which is fun.  I've also been enjoying the lazy summer days to catch up on reading some of my favorite books.

Declan: At four months old Declan is turning into quite the chunky monkey.  He rolled over once, but has to be on an incline in order to do so.  He hasn't seemed that interested in moving and tummy time usually consists of him rubbing his face into the carpet.  He does love grabbing things now, which means I am now looking into getting a hair cut.  The grip and pull of little hands can be quite painful!  He loves his tag blanket (made by Stephanie Kawamura) because he can grasp and pull the ribbons into his mouth.  He has also started to jabber a lot more and loves having long conversations, especially when he wakes up in the morning.

We miss all of you and look forward to making new friendships here in Washington!
